Greenleaf Foundation Inc (AutoGift)

A nonprofit organization

To foster independence, security, and hope for single Moms,  in need by gifting a reliable vehicle.

Autogift is a unique agency that helps close the gap for single mothers living in Georgia with minor children by providing cars for single moms who are often victims of homelessness, domestic violence, sex trafficking and women in recovery. Autogift fosters independence by offering safe, debt-free reliable transportation to moms that qualify. Providing reliable cars ensures the safety and security of mothers and their children, allowing them to feel a part of their community by going to parks, joining neighborhood teams, and gives an opportunity for moms to seek full-time employment. Getting out of the vicious cycle of poverty takes these women off financial aid, giving them hope and renewed faith in themselves. Also, it helps these moms be an example to their children and to their community in how to better their lives and break the chain of poverty.

Autogift was the brain-storm of Bob Kilinski who was determined to change the lives of low-income, single moms with children. The recipients are chosen from one of currently twenty advocate agencies who thoroughly vet potential recipients' situations to ensure the cars will be a blessing and not a burden. In 2018, Bob donated a portion of his retirement funds and gave away 51 cars, impacting 132 children and their moms. The  cars are fully inspected with all safety repairs completed. The tax, tag, and titles are fully paid by Autogift.  Donations would help us obtain more cars, make safety repairs on cars, and help with transfer fees, touching an even wider group of those in need.

Although Autogift is in its infancy, of the 51 cars given away in 2018, 9 of them were donated by those who support Autogift’s mission (the others all purchased by Bob), reinforcing the community’s belief in the cause. In a letter to us, one recipient wrote that “what you do brings hope” stating the Autogift “genuinely care(s) about the hard times that others may face. . . .“ Started by a single man who had a driving force to give back to his community, today we are spreading that hope to women - so that they can become independent, take care of themselves and their children, get a job, go back to school, attend church, help their children become a part of their community and one day be a fruitful part of it as well. Offering hope means that people leave their rut behind as they drive towards new possibilities. The effects are life-long, not only for these women but for their children and their children’s children. That hope and continuity of hope is our ultimate reward.
