Our Mission Statement
Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer’s mission is to engage with Georgia’s breast cancer community to increase access to care and reduce disparities in cancer outcomes.
Our History & Events
Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer is a local organization founded in 2002 by a breast cancer survivor, Randi Passoff. When the Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk pulled out of Atlanta in 2002, Randi, a long-time walker, decided that Atlanta needed a fundraising event wherein all of the funds stayed local to support Georgia breast cancer patients and breast health programs. She created what we call “the kinder and gentler breast cancer walk.” Participants in the Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer walk 2 days, 30 miles, and annually raise around $1 million to support Georgia breast health programs!
In addition to the 2-Day Walk, GAABC also produces the Georgia 5K Run for Breast Cancer in Macon. This family-friendly run/walk event allows GAABC to reach and interact with communities in Middle Georgia.
GAABC's Celebrating Survivors Breakfasts Series are complimentary events for breast cancer survivors and patients, with expert-led panels discussing issues unique to the breast cancer journey. Survivor Breakfasts take place at various locations throughout Georgia.
GAABC's Grantee Celebration is a community gathering to celebrate and support Georgia's breast health and breast cancer community. In addition to raising funds throughout the event, the Grantee Celebration is where GAABC distributes funds raised throughout the previous year to deserving breast health and breast cancer programs throughout the state!
