Georgia Nursing Leadership Coalition

We are Georgia's Action Coalition, dedicated to advancing nursing in Georgia. Our mission is to implement the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine’s Future of Nursing report by providing leadership and developing partnerships among and beyond nursing.

Our vision: nursing will play an essential role in promoting the health of all Georgians.

The GNLC is dedicated to the values of leadership and collaboration:

LEADERSHIP: The GNLC will create a means for nurses to work collectively to achieve the common goal of enhancing health care for all Georgians

COLLABORATION: The GNLC will work with strategic partners across health care, education, government, and consumer organizations to implement health care changes statewide.

WE NEED HELP with a new initiative: 

High School to Higher Education: Increasing Black Male Representation in Nursing

This program is designed to facilitate entry into the nursing profession for Black men in the Metro Atlanta area. This has multiple benefits: a career in nursing can improve socioeconomic status for Black men, help to diversify the nursing workforce, and promote health for minority communities. The overarching goal of this program is to provide guidance, mentoring, and the resources needed to promote educational attainment and employment opportunities for Black men in nursing. Participants will engage in personal and professional development workshops that span a variety of topics including leadership development, preparing for higher education, financial wellness, and mental health. This is a pipeline project that we hope to eventually expand: the project will be implemented October 2020 through July 2021. 

We have received major funding from the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).
