"Georgia Federation of Women's Club's (GFWC Georgia) mission is to enhance the lives of others in our local communities through volunteer service." We are a member driven non-profit volunteer service organization who share a very simple common goal to serve our community while preserving the rich history of our clubs and organization. GFWC Georgia and its members create global change working on a local level—they select projects and programs by determining the specific needs of the communities in which they live and work every day.
Established in 1896, GFWC Georgia is one of the oldest, largest all female led organizations in Georgia composed of 75 women’s clubs divided into 6 districts throughout the State of Georgia with over 1400 members. Every Georgia clubwoman is also a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) which is one of the world’s largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, women’s volunteer service organization, headquartered in Washington, D.C. with a long history of philanthropy, social and political advocacy and community leadership.
This is our first year participating in this campaign. Since COVID our membership has declined and like many nonprofits, our donations have decreased. We truly believe service clubs are the backbone of our local communities and small towns, and your donations will help in providing the education, training to our members and inspiring them to make an impact in their communities. In addition, your donations will help us continue support our special programs and projects within our five service areas (Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness and Civic Engagement).
GFWC Georgia impact lives, through acts large and small.
How do we do this? In order to run an effective and impactful organization, it is vital to not only provide our members with the greater knowledge and understanding of our rich history, operation and mission, but to provide them with the leadership skills necessary to lead projects within their communities in addition to connecting them to like-minded service oriented women who enjoy giving back. We provide leadership training, Leadership Education and Development Seminar (LEADS) each year, which is one of our most important training programs, followed by education, on project ideas, how to manage projects, and learn about other nonprofits in our State and how we can assist them.
GFWC Georgia's latest initiative is to preserve our clubhouses and women's history. As we look to the future, we recognize the importance of restoring our past, and we invite you to join us in this endeavor. By partnering with us, you'll become a part of our legacy and history as we work together to build a better future. Please help us save our clubhouses and preserve our women's history for generations to come.
Our organization is dedicated to preserving our remaining historic buildings and clubhouses, which have served as important hubs of charitable giving and community engagement. These buildings, often located in city or town squares, hold immense historical and cultural significance for our Georgia Women's History. They have served as centers for charitable giving and a space where our club members can engage in their philanthropic initiatives, projects, and meetings. However, due to the high cost of maintenance and repair, many of our clubs have been forced to sell their clubhouses. We are now reaching out to the community for support in saving these cherished landmarks. By contributing to our cause, you will help ensure that these historic homes continue to serve as a place where our club members can work on their charitable service programs, projects, and meetings. Together, let's preserve our heritage and keep these important pieces of history alive for future generations.
We hope you will consider donating to our mission and preserving our historic clubhouses across the State of Georgia.
