About Us

The Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence (GCADV) is the state leader in the movement to end violence, representing over 50 domestic violence organizations and programs across the state. GCADV’s mission is to empower survivors of domestic violence and the programs that serve them, we educate the public and we advocate for responsive public policy. GCADV does this through four core pathways: training, technical assistance, public policy and advocacy, and statewide outreach.

We believe that collaborative work between GCADV, its members, allies, corporate and foundation partners, along with the larger community can bring about a transformation. Collectively we can advocate and create change on behalf of domestic violence survivors and their families.

Our Impact

In 2018, 8,613 GCADV training hours impacted 2,065 advocates who served over 10,000 survivors. Advocacy is an important part of our work - it secures the resources required to support domestic violence and sexual assault programs and ensures that survivors of domestic violence and their families are protected.

What Your Money Supports

Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence has been the leading voice against domestic violence since 1980. We connect, support, and strengthen over 50 local member organizations and thousands of advocates across Georgia.

Because of GCADV:

  • Member organizations respond effectively and adaptively to survivors’ needs.
  • Survivors gain access to safe housing, legal advocacy, and economic support through strengthened local programs and statewide initiatives.
  • Advocates and organizations develop culturally responsive services, especially for Deaf/Hard of Hearing survivors and incarcerated women.
  • Lawmakers hear directly from survivors and advocates when crafting policies that protect families.
  • Life-changing legislation is enacted: communities become better-informed and equipped to prevent violence before it begins. Some of our recent legislative wins include:
    • HB582: Georgia Survivor Justice Act
    • HB177: Including Pets in Protective Orders
    • SB324: Establish a victim-centered address confidentiality program
