Gateway Regional Council (GRC) believes it is all of our responsibility to establish progressive models for change in Black communities. GRC thrives to do this by identifying and understanding critical issues that have negatively impacted Black people through lived experiences and research.
Our mission is to establish collaborations that support leaders and organizations who are championing causes that will be the change and assist by injecting the human and/or financial capital needed. Our hope is that by joining their efforts we build stronger teams, make deeper impact, garner sustainability and establish foundations that center on equity through the use of best practices. We believe that anything is possible and we hope you will join us in making that a reality!
In 2020, GRC formally became a 501(c)3 nonprofit, recruited 5 new fellows, worked diligently & built a social media campaign to address needs in Black Communities during COVID-19, built relationships with DPH, Kennesaw State University and other key stakeholders in Georgia. GRC is partnering with a Functional Medicine Group to host a 5-day Health Disparities Summit in January 2021 and has dozens of requests to work with agencies in areas of cultural linguistics, consulting, research and coaching.
GRC 2021 goals include conducting community based research, offering 12 new fellow and intern positions, broadening our social justice program to other states, hosting 25 community based health drives, engage 100+ organizations to build relationships, fundraise $1 million & make intentional impact on the communities we serve.
Power of ONE! GRC's fellow and intern program, provides us with the people necessary to support leaders in 12 critical areas (public health, social justice, education, leadership, economic development, housing, environmental change, etc.)
GRC's goal this year is to raise $50,000 to provide stipends for our committed fellows and interns. We are asking each of you to give $12, that's $1 per cause. We promise to keep you updated quarterly on our efforts and progress with our partners. We also invite you to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and our website (www.gatewayregionalcouncil.org). As always 90% of funding raised goes directly to our programs and 10% is used for administrative cost. We believe that if we help others get where they are going, we will get where we want to be!
Grateful,
