$50,000 Goal
Everyone deserves access to locally grown food - the healthiest food we can put in our bodies. Food Well Alliance counts on donors like you to achieve our mission to provide resources and support to local growers so more people can access healthy produce grown right here in metro Atlanta. This year, every dollar you donate is DOUBLED thanks to matching gifts by the Food Well Alliance Board and Tito's Handmade Vodka - up to $25,000.
DOUBLE Your Dollars for local growers!
With your help, growers like Yennenga "Yenn" Adanya (above) are overcoming tremendous challenges, including land access. The land Yenn was leasing for Oyun Botanical Gardens went up for sale two years ago. She attended Food Well's Farm Resource Round-up and met a representative from USDA Farm Service Agency who helped her secure a Farm Service Loan to purchase the land. "I got the approval for the loan," said Yenn. "And in May, we closed!" Now Oyun Botanical can continue to be a year-round source of fresh, healthy produce for East Point. Donations to Food Well Alliance have helped sustain over 300 farms, gardens, and orchards since 2015.
Together, we are building a collaborative network of local food leaders.
Sister Terri Ali and Sister Tazar Gissentanner (above) oversee the Firdous Community Farm at Mohammed Schools of Atlanta. Together they teach students how to grow and harvest produce used for their Farm to Cafeteria program. A $25,000 Farm Forward Grant from Food Well has allowed them to extend their harvest through various food preservation methods of canning, freezing, drying, and preserving. “This grant has pushed us over the top, adding to our technology and labor support and teaching valuable lessons on food preservation,” said Sister Terri.
What your dollars can do:$25 delivers 40 fruit saplings to new orchards.
$50 purchases 120 vegetable plants for a farm or garden.
$100 provides 2 days of training for agriculture student interns.
$200 delivers a truck load of compost to a garden.
$500 completes a tractor workday at a local farm.
$1,500 funds improvement projects at 2 community gardens.
THANK YOU for supporting local growers. Together, we can realize our vision of an Atlanta that is locally grown and community connected!
