$10,000 Goal

Anchored in Georgia but working across the South, Fair Count builds long-term power in rural, BIPOC communities that have been historically undercounted in the decennial census, underrepresented at the polls, and whose communities are torn apart in redistricting.

While we fight for civic and racial equity in all three pillars of democracy, the census is our North Star because the counting effort sets in motion a critical, decade-long trajectory for both financial resources and political representation. We use every iteration of civic participation as catalysts for continued civic engagement to end extractive organizing and build trusted, long-term relationships.

Every decade persons of color are critically undercounted in the census leading to billions of dollars lost in community funds, while political power is unfairly distributed through nefarious gerrymandering. This sets off a tailspin of legislatures passing laws targeting the very communities that deserve the most support. We end up with a persistent, inequitable system that continues to unfairly reallocate local political power while supporting more barriers, like voter suppression laws, that make it harder for the people to be heard.

At Fair Count, we believe the only way to change the system is to overwhelm it with participation.
