A-CC High School Completion Initiative, Inc

The A-CC High School Completion Initiative, Inc. (HSCI) is a youth development organization. Based in Athens, GA, we instruct youth in mass communications to help them graduate from high school prepared for the postsecondary opportunity of their choice. This could be college, trade programs, employment, entrepreneurship, or the military. 

Youth (ages 8 - 18) are attracted to HSCI by the chance to learn the art of broadcast journalism/digital media. Participants are taught writing, research, announcing, program planning/production, editing, and engineering. These are not only career skills, they also improve the youth's ability to read and write. 

The youngsters produce weekly shows for our youth-operated internet radio station (meuradioathens.com), and a local FM station (WXAG - 92.7FM). Programs include Education Matters, a weekly teen-led radio talk show, and live play-by-play coverage of local youth and high school sports. HSCI also operates after-school programs in elementary and middle schools.

Our program develops the youngsters' creativity, communication skills, critical thinking, awareness of current events, ability to work as a team, and understanding of the need for planning. Additionally, they are mentored, monitored for academic performance, taken on college tours, introduced to various careers, and assisted with post-secondary pursuits. 

Your support of HSCI allows us to provide stipends to economically disadvantaged youth, expose them to the world beyond their impoverished neighborhoods, and expand our program offerings.
