Mission Statement

" To stimulate the love for and knowledge of gardening and to and enthusiastically share this knowledge with others" 

Your financial support will enhance the work of 65 active Cherokee County Volunteers who annually donate 2500 hours to provide educational programs that reach over 1000 Cherokee County residents. Our work includes planning programs, activities and projects in which the garden is the foundation for learning and discovery. Through attending our programs, people are able to make environmentally sound gardening decisions through learning how insects and diseases can be treated with appropriate controls and selecting healthy plants that can enhance landscapes and increase property values. Individuals can learn to grow their own fruits and vegetables and youth can gain exposure to the joy and wonder of gardening.     

Donations will be used to:

• Enhance hands-on learning experiences for youth at area school gardens
• Expand opportunities for homeowners to access University based resources and workshops provided online.
• Provide scholarships to students interested in the consumer horticulture field.
• Enrich opportunities for Seniors that will contribute to their overall health and wellbeing through gardening programs at Senior Centers.
• Ensure food security issues are being addressed for families with limited resources.
• Help families save money by learning to grow their own food.
• Strengthen communities by providing support to community gardens.

  CCMG endeavors to carry out it's purpose in cooperation with The University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Science and the UGA Cooperative Extension.
