Cedartown Animal Rescue, Education & S

A nonprofit organization

CARES is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization (EIN # 47-3296826) that focuses on saving death row animals, fully vetting them, matching them with forever homes and providing a safety net should something ever happen. We are a foster-based rescue where all of our animals are kept in loving home environments and properly socialized prior to adoption. In addition, we provide community outreach programs, which provide low cost spay/neuter opportunities, as well as help educate the public with a focus on local school systems. We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from caring animal lovers like you. 100% of your donation goes toward saving these abandoned and forgotten animals.

CARES takes in dogs of all breeds as well as medical backgrounds. We do not turn our back on an animal simply because their medical costs will be high. We choose to treat the animal with the best vets around, even relying on specialists when needed. Whether it is heartworms, broken bones, internal injuries, contagious diseases and such, we will give that animal all the medical care they need to make a full recovery so they can go on to a loving home. CARES has taken in dogs with behavioral issues - whether they are scared dogs who were never properly socialized, dogs who have fear based aggression, animals from hoarding cases or even animals from a dog fighting bust, we have taken them into our rescue, helped them to become better canine citizens and found them perfect forever homes where they can thrive.

We pride ourselves on the level of care we provide each individual animal, whether it be medical care, training or just time and love so that the animal has a second chance at life. We go through painstaking efforts to match each animal in their best home, not just a home who meets out stringent requirements for past medical history and great living environment but homes who are set up to provide the ideal situation for that particular pet. Our goal is not - and has never been - to pull, do basic vetting and adopt as many dogs as quickly as possible into homes. While that sounds great on the surface, CARES strives for a much higher level of perfection in vetting, behavior adjustment and matching of the potential adopter to better ensure success from everyone's perspective.

CARES has adopted dogs all over the United States. We are based in Georgia but we have adopted as far south as Florida, as far north as Maine and as far west as California! We have even adopted dogs into homes in Canada and Prince Edwards Island and even flown dogs over the pond into forever homes in the United Kingdom! If it is the perfect situation for that dog, we will make it happen!

This year CARES decided to take things one step further...not only have we adopted Internationally but we wanted rescue Internationally. So in 2019 CARES not only saved dogs from Qatar in the Middle East but we rescued dogs from a fate worse than death...we stepped up and rescued dogs from the horrible meat markets in China (yes they would have been tortured to "tenderize" their meat and then served up as someone's dinner)! We are proud to have the opportunity to bring these dogs back to the great nation on earth - and find them homes...perfect homes...homes that would have never been possible if left in their current situation...

CARES may be small but we are mighty and strive to be a voice for all the animals. What we take on isn't easy but with ever animal we help, we put that dog's life on a completely different path...one of success, health and love. Our vet bills can be very high with all that we take on. We just cannot do all this without help from the community and animals lovers like yourself. Please consider donating this Giving Tuesday to help all the animals in our care and the ones we are always on the way to save and change their lives forever. Until a time comes when all animals are treated with compassion, love and empathy, please help us be the financial strength we need to help these animals!
