The role of the PTA..

If you picture the PTA as just a small group of parents who meet occasionally to plan bake sales, think again.  The PTA is a strong group of parents who work with the school to ensure the parents, teachers, and student’s needs are met.  With budget cuts to education funds the PTA is needed now more than ever to fill in the gaps left by those budget cuts.

The role of the local PTA is to build strong working relationships among parents, teachers, and schools to support our students.  The PTA is instrumental in recruiting volunteers for programs within our school.   The PTA also organize parent educational workshops and seminars, plan staff activities, coordinate volunteers for special events, provide special recognition ceremonies, and other activities.

Many perceive the PTA as a fundraising group, but AES PTA functions as much more.  We also assist our parents with matter that are also related to their day to day living concerns.  In order for the PTA to fully function money is required, so fundraising is a small part of the PTA.  We must raise funds to meet the needs of our staff, students, and families.
