Please consider supporting Autrey Mill this Georgia Gives Day. Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center is a scenic upland forest with a 46-acre network of trails, animal exhibits, a heritage village, gardens, and now, wildlife rehabilitation.  Our mission is to create a destination and an educational resource that inspires exploration, appreciation, and preservation of the natural environment, wildlife, and local history.

What Makes AUTREY MILL Unique?

Preserve

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve began in 1988 as a grassroots effort to save a diverse woodland from encroaching development, prevent the loss of an old mill site, and halt the demolition of historic buildings situated on the property.  The Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Association was formed the following year to operate, protect and improve the preserve. Now about 33 years later Autrey Mill is broadening our efforts of preservation by saving local wildlife. The service of wildlife rehabilitation will preserve the lives of the animals in our community and the diverse ecosystem of our 46 acres.
Visitors can experience the preservation of nature and history- not only by visiting our trails and historical buildings, but through the education we provide on the preservation of wildlife, nature, and history. Autrey Mill is unique in our efforts of preservation by combining the history, wildlife, and environment of our community.

Appreciate

The preserve was founded by community advocates and continues in that spirit by relying on, and encouraging, the volunteerism of individuals and groups who log over 10,000 volunteer hours annually.
We offer the public a variety of environmental, wildlife rehabilitation, and history-based programming including guided nature hikes, tours of historic buildings, children’s classes, scout programs, school field trips, homeschool classes, special exhibits, seminars, and summer camps, events, festivals. These educational programs are enhanced by the support of our 34 animal ambassadors. These rescue animals help provide interactions with the community to learn about their wild counterparts in our local ecosystems. The hands-on education and outreach with our trails, buildings, and animals spark that appreciation by giving the community intimate moments with these unique assets only at Autrey Mill.

Explore

The public has cost-free access to Autrey Mill’s grounds for hiking, nature study, strolling the pathways of the Heritage Village, and viewing our animal exhibits. Entrance to the grounds is free and is open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm 365 days of the year. The preserve has grown under the 30-year leadership and vision of our nonprofit.  Today we welcome 14,000 annual visitors to explore our 3 miles of trails, 34 animal exhibits, the historical village, and utilize the service of wildlife rehab.

How Will Your Donation Help

Autrey Mill is thrilled to announce that we are enhancing our conservation efforts by providing a brand new service. In the Spring of 2023, Autrey Mill will open our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Wildlife Rehabilitation is the act of taking in orphaned, injured, or ill wildlife, and providing care for successful release back into the wild. This resource will greatly expand our community as we will be the only licensed Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in the City of Johns Creek. We aim to provide a solution for a much-needed service in the North Fulton area. As a licensed facility we will provide care to orphaned and injured wildlife including small mammals and reptiles.

In 1989 the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Association was formed as a non-profit organization to operate, protect, and improve the preserve. Now 33 years later we are growing and providing even more to our beloved community. The main goal of this new service is to provide an option for our community that has never been offered before.

As you know, non-profits are challenged in this economic environment. We depend on generous donations. Your donation will provide essential medical supplies and care for local wildlife. Donating to Autrey Mill this Georgia Gives season will contribute towards a unique cause. By making a donation of $500 or more you will receive two complimentary tickets to our grand opening event.

Any donation, big or small will support us. We thank you in advance.
