Augusta Jewish Museum Inc

A nonprofit organization

The mission of the Augusta Jewish Museum, in downtown Augusta Georgia at 525 Telfair Street, has been to reclaim and restore the historic original Congregation Children of Synagogue, the oldest standing synagogue in Georgia, and the adjacent Court of Ordinary (both built in the 1860's) and re-purpose them as a Museum and Center for Education and Culture. Phase Two, when funding is secured, will be additional display space, archival offices, community room, & rental venue.  Phase One opened in Spring 2021 with programming, displays, and online activities. The AJM collects and interprets the rich evidence of the Jewish experience in the Augusta GA & Aiken SC areas and educates and inspires audiences of all ages and backgrounds by showcasing Jewish Heritage and Traditions, Contributions of the Jewish Community in the Savannah River Region, remembering the lessons of the Holocaust and recognizing Israel, the land and its people.
