ABOUT THE AUDITORY VERBAL CENTER:
Since 1977, the Auditory Verbal Center (AVC)—a nonprofit 501(c)(3)—has been dedicated to transforming the lives of children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing. We provide a family-centered, holistic approach that empowers individuals to listen and speak, building the foundation for a lifetime of communication without the need for sign language or lip reading.
As one of only a few centers of its kind in the United States, AVC offers comprehensive Auditory-Verbal therapy alongside a full-service Audiology & Hearing Aid Clinic, making our services truly unique.
Our Audiology & Hearing Aid Clinic, located in Atlanta, serves clients from birth through adulthood, with a primary focus on adult hearing healthcare. We provide hearing aids, cochlear implant support, and a wide range of hearing health resources.
At the heart of AVC are our highly trained and certified Speech-Language Pathologists and Listening and Spoken Language Specialists. They are experts in teaching children with all degrees of hearing loss how to listen and speak by developing the listening pathways in the brain. This work lays the foundation for lifelong communication skills and greater independence.
We offer therapy, both in-person and via teletherapy, making it accessible wherever you are regardless of distance or transportation barriers.
Our bilingual therapists also provide therapy directly in Spanish to ensure care is culturally and linguistically responsive. Whether in-person or online, our family-centered therapy model supports every member of the family on their journey.
As a nonprofit, AVC is deeply committed to supporting families every step of the way—with compassion, expertise, and unwavering dedication to helping individuals with hearing loss thrive.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP:
Every year, about 2–3 of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with hearing loss—and 92% of them are born to hearing parents. For these families, the journey ahead can feel overwhelming.
At the Auditory-Verbal Center, Inc., we provide the Gift of Sound & Voice by teaching deaf and hard of hearing children how to listen and speak. We serve children across Georgia, and through teletherapy, we reach families who live far from our centers—ensuring distance is never a barrier.
On average, we work with 126 children each week, providing more than 3,600 therapy sessions each year. After graduating from our program, children are able to enter mainstream classrooms alongside their hearing peers—ready to learn, play, and thrive in the world around them.
But here’s where we need you:
65% of our families are on Medicaid, which only covers about 15% of therapy costs.
Each year, we provide over $1,020,000 in scholarships and insurance discounts to ensure no child is left without services.
We go beyond therapy—offering loaner teletherapy tablets, internet installation, and support so that even families without resources can participate fully.
We do everything we can to remove barriers—but we cannot do it alone.
Your generous support—whether through a gift of cash, stock, or IRA distribution—will directly help a child learn to listen, speak, and thrive. You will give a child the chance to experience laughter, friendship, learning, and connection—the things so many of us take for granted.
Together, we can change lives. We simply can’t do it without you.
Thank you for your continued support and friendship.
