Operating in under-resourced communities, the Atlanta Music Project's (AMP) mission is to empower youth to realize their possibilities through music. Founded in 2010, no audition or prior musical experience is required for participation and AMP provides everything necessary for success – transportation, instruments, group and private lessons, professional teaching artists, and opportunities to compete and perform – all tuition-free. AMP annually serves 500 K-12 students through beginner-level orchestras, bands, and choirs; intermediate/advanced orchestras and choirs; private lessons; in-house college and career services; concerts, masterclasses, and mentorship by visiting professional musicians; and a four-week summer festival and school. Programs occur six days a week for 1-2 hours per class and all students learn theory, technique, and repertoire, collectively performing 60+ concerts annually throughout Metro Atlanta.
