Atlanta Celebrates Photography aims to make Atlanta a leading center for the world's fastest growing art form. By producing the largest annual community-oriented photo festival in the US, we provide experiences that engage and educate diverse audiences through lens-based media. In October, ACP will mark its 22nd annual festival with more than 100 free events and exhibitions at participating venues.
ACP's 2021 public art augmented-reality experience, The PHOENIX, is currently on view at the NE corner of 10th St. NE & Peachtree St. NE.
For this groundbreaking public art exhibit, Atlanta’s iconic symbol of rebirth is rendered in an interactive photo-mural featuring dozens of photographs showcasing the city’s collaborative spirit. Intriguing images of the people that make Atlanta great were selected from a call for entries, and combined into an artistic interpretation of a phoenix. A collective portrait of our city, The PHOENIX is brought to life via augmented reality with a 3D animation experience viewable on any mobile device pointed at the mural.
The PHOENIX features work by Cyril Bailleul, Kaneesha Brownlee, Andrew Clark, Terrell Clark, Rebecca Cristante, Jonathan Hillyer, Ronya Hull-Barksdale, Vicky Jaksic, Gail Mitchell, Laura Noel, Meredith Ochoa, Paul Peterson, Marla Puziss, Jerry Siegel, Leora Siegelman, Michelle Simmons, Arvin Temkar, Kenneth West, Chelsea Williams, and Jaime Ziegler.
The Phoenix has been made possible by our project sponsors: Alston + Bird, Mailchimp, and Fulton County Arts Council.
Special thanks to our project partners: Midtown Alliance, Dewberry Group, Dewberry Foundation, Dragon Army and Wood Mill Lab.
