The Asian American Resource Foundation (AARC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 by the late Reverend Henry Jee to serve the special needs of Asian American in the metropolitan Atlanta area, specifically focusing efforts in Gwinnett County. AARC focuses on strengthening the Asian American community, increasing cultural awareness, and encouraging communication and cooperation within the diverse Atlanta community.
AARC was formed as a result of the Welfare Reform Act of 1996, which effectively limited government support services and benefits to immigrants. Since its inception, AARC continuously seeks to meet the demand for human services in the Asian American community. AARC provides human services, education, and job placement to the poor and disadvantaged members of the Asian community in metro Atlanta. It assists the elderly, jobless, single mothers, and unskilled people to break through language, cultural, and social barriers in effort to obtain self-sufficiency and stability.
Since its inception, AARC has continued to refine its programs and has developed several new programs with the organization’s growth in capacity. Though there were programmatic changes over the years, AARC has focused all of its programs on providing culturally and linguistically competent support services. AARC now operates the Homelessness Prevention and the Rapid Re-Housing programs, Mental Health Counseling Program, and the Job Placement Program. AARC is in the process of introducing an after-school online math and English program, called the ‘DreamEd Project’ for children of low-income and minority families who live in the Southeastern part of the United States.
The mission of Asian American Resource Foundation is to build self-sufficient models of success by increasing access to available resources in the community and meeting the high demand for human support services in the Asian American community. Our mission empowers and strengthens all communities by providing culturally competent support services that enhance self-sufficiency and quality of life. AARC is dedicated to serving individuals and families to be productive citizens throughout the metro-Atlanta area with an array of support services and programs.
