African Film & Arts Foundation Inc

The African Film & Arts Foundation (AFAF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit media arts organization based in Atlanta, GA, founded in 2020. Our mission is to magnify and celebrate the visions, voices, lives, and stories of people from Africa and the African Diaspora through the lens of arts, culture, and film.

We're best known for AFFATL — the African Film Festival Atlanta — Georgia's first homegrown African film festival and one of the only of its kind in the Southeast US. Each year AFFATL screens 30-50 standout films from over 20 countries to 1,000+ attendees over five days. Beyond the festival, AFAF runs Cinema for the Culture, a quarterly traveling screening and masterclass series, and a hands-on Internship Program that has trained 20-50+ young creatives in festival production, communications, and nonprofit management — delivered in partnership with the African Leadership Academy (ALA).

Your support helps us keep African and Diaspora storytelling visible, funded, and growing.
