Adventure Bags

ADVENTURE BAGS is a local non-profit organization that began on October 15, 2011. We are dedicated to helping provide essential items to Georgia's children experiencing traumatic events.  Every day across the nation, children are being displaced for one reason or another: A fire in the home, a legal situation, a horrible accident, or worse. Georgia's children face these situations far too often leaving all that is familiar behind them.  

The idea behind the organization is simple. Coordinate with organizations that work with displaced children (i.e. DFCS, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, teen shelters, school systems, fire and police departments) . We provide age and gender-specific bags for those organizations to distribute. Adventure Bags provides a book bag filled with important items like a stuffed animal, journal, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, hair brush /comb, socks, coloring books, crayons, and a few small toys.  

We have never been one to measure our success in dollars and cents.  We measure our impact on the number of smiles that we have delivered to these children.  

Adventure Bags would not be possible without the community support behind us.  We have volunteers of all ages beginning with young children who help to collect donations and stuff bags. Our kid volunteers get to leave a handprint on the wall in our office (not pictured) so they can be recognized for the contribution they have made to our organization.
