Why Your Support on Giving Tuesday is Critical for Outsiders Farm & Sanctuary
This Giving Tuesday, your participation is more urgent than ever for the future of the animals at Outsiders Farm & Sanctuary. We are at a crossroads, facing a critical financial challenge that threatens our ability to continue providing care for over 400 animals. For years, we’ve given a second chance to animals that no one else would take in—rescuing pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, and more. Now, we need your help to ensure we can keep them safe, healthy, and well-cared for.
Despite our best efforts to reduce costs, work under a strict no-intake policy, and cut back wherever possible, we are struggling to meet the most basic needs of our animals—especially food. Just last week, we spent nearly $3,000 on food for the pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, goats, and other animals in our care and only successfully fundraised a portion of that adding to a very high food store bill due to lack of donations. The reality is that, without consistent, reliable support, we simply cannot continue at this pace.
The Urgent Need for Your Support:
Here’s why your support is so critical this Giving Tuesday:
Rising Costs, Decreasing Donations: The costs of food, medical care, and shelter are constantly rising, while donations have not kept pace. Over the years, social media was a substantial source of income for us, but changes in algorithms and shifting content trends have made it harder than ever to effectively advocate for the sanctuary or fundraise. What once worked to help spread awareness and raise crucial funds is now reaching fewer people, which makes it harder to meet our financial needs. We need new, consistent supporters who can help us cover the rising costs and keep the sanctuary running.
Stability Through Recurring Donations: Monthly donors provide the stability we need to meet the day-to-day needs of the animals. These donations allow us to budget, plan, and provide food, medical care, and shelter without the constant stress of wondering where the next dollar will come from. Whether you can give $5, $10, or $25 each month, it makes a profound difference in ensuring the animals have everything they need.
Preventing Heartbreaking Decisions: Without steady support, we may face the heart-wrenching decision to euthanize a portion of the animals simply to reduce costs. This is something we refuse to do. But the reality is, without more donors, we will struggle to avoid this. Your donation helps us avoid this outcome and ensures every animal continues to thrive.
Your Impact is Immediate: Whether you contribute a one-time donation or set up a monthly sponsorship, your support directly contributes to the animals’ daily needs—food, shelter, medical care, and more. If every one of our 35,000 followers donated just $1, we could cover months of food costs, easing the financial burden and giving us the breathing room to continue providing for the animals well into 2025.
How You Can Help:
Other Ways to Donate:
This Giving Tuesday, we need more than just donations—we need committed supporters who believe in our mission and want to help us continue to provide a safe haven for the animals who rely on us. Monthly donors are crucial to giving us the stability to keep going, while one-time donations provide immediate relief for food, medical care, and other essential costs.
As a stable and sustainable sanctuary, we will be able to provide our community with much needed support via our pet pig and companion animal spay/neuter program, pet food pantry, and low cost/no cost vet care clinics.
Thank you for being part of the solution. Together, we can keep our doors open and provide the care these animals deserve.
