Studios Making Art and Reproduction Textiles (Project S.M.A.R.T) is working with Centers, Museums, Art Rooms and Studios to provide creative and engaging activities and projects for all ages. We launched the Project S.M.A.R.T Virtual Open Studio in December of 2020 to create a positive impact on critical out of school hour activities and after school programs. Project S.M.A.R.T launched with a matching grant from the City of Savannah Cultural Arts Department Weave-A-Dream Grant. We sustained the project and was able to mobilize outside of the state of Georgia by being selected to participate in a National Fundraiser A Community Thrives.
Here is a little bit about the Project S.M.A.R.T Virtual Open Studio:
The virtual open studio live-stream allows for the lead instructor to connect with the after school activity leader to facilitate the demo and sewing project to the students in real-time. During the livestream you can interact with not only the students in the after school program, but the students who are not in person and still participate in after school programming. During the virtual open studio you can utilize social media, smart devices and computers to engage students throughout the learning process.
By Engaging access to virtual open studio live-stream activities and events during critical after school hours, you can provide an opportunity for those who are not able to attend the activity in person to still engage with the after school program and the children that are attending the activity in person.
All of the money raised goes to the Implementation of the 2022 Project S.M.A.R.T Activities. Activities are free to all that participate.
