WHAT IS VITILIGO?
Vitiligo is a non-contagious, auto immune skin disorder that affects the skin. It appears as patchy white skin.
Vitiligo affects over three million youth and adults in the United States and 65 million people worldwide.
HOW IS VITILIGO DIAGNOSED?
Vitiligo is commonly diagnosed by doing a skin biopsy with a dermatologist.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF VITILIGO ON YOUTH AND ADULTS?
Vitiligo is the leading cause of low self-esteem due to the discoloration of the skin. Because of the nature of Vitiligo and it affecting the skin many have experience bullying, discrimination and isolation as a result of Vitiligo. Due to no federal funding for advocacy many are forced to manage Vitiligo on their own and there are emotional and physiological effects of Vitiligo.

National Vitiligo Bond Inc Foundation aka Vitiligo Bond, Inc., is a leading organization in Atlanta, GA. It was founded by Natasha Pierre McCarthy in November 2010. VBI is focused on advancing the cause for youth and adults living with Vitiligo. We touch the lives of members through social media, television, and radio and offline support groups, health fairs, education, and awareness initiatives. It is our goal to have Vitiligo treated as a public health priority as millions of youth and adults are still undiagnosed, untreated and unsupported. Support our cause to make it a reality.
