As one of the economic first responders in Greater Atlanta, the Urban League is committed to provide economically empowering programs for adults, youth and families throughout Greater Atlanta. Whether it's through jobs, careers, workforce education/training, youth development, housing or entrepreneurship, the Urban League has continued to bolster Atlanta's economy for more than 96 years.

Our objective is to foster investment in our region's human capital and support youth and adults to achieve their highest potential. We serve as advocates to ensure that all of our "human assets" in our community are linked to economic opportunities.

pathways to empowerment

Get Hired

Step UP to Work connects Metro Atlanta employers that have open positions with qualified work ready job seekers. Step UP helps job seekers secure employment with their current skills on a fast track! The ULGA Workforce Team has put 104 participants back to work this year. The retention rate for our participants after 90 days is 98.81%. The average wage for participants is $12.64 per/hour.

Get Skills

New Beginnings is an intensive eight week program that provides job readiness training and social support for participants who have had criminal justice system involvement. The  program helps individuals transition from incarceration into society through gaining life, communication and decision-making skills needed to secure employment and increase self-sufficiency.

The Entrepreneurship Center (TEC) provides counseling, mentoring and training services for entrepreneurs in Georgia. The overall goal is to foster wealth creation, self-employment and the economic health of the communities we serve. TEC helps participants secure tax ID numbers, set up legal structures, understand financial management, secure certifications and learn how to secure contracts.

Your Home

Housing and Community Development at the ULGA is an approved counseling agency of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). We assist in helping prospective homebuyers avoid inflated appraisals, unreasonably high interest rates, unaffordable repayment terms, and other conditions that can result in a loss of equity, increased debt, default, and eventually foreclosure.

Our Youth

The Project Ready Mentor Program supports 60 students in 9th through 12th grades at Benjamin E. Mays High School, in the Atlanta Public Schools system. Project Ready coaches and mentors give students cultural, social, leadership and academic support. The activities include service learning projects, college tours, behind the business tours, college readiness and career exploration.

Your Health

In September 2013, the Urban League of Greater Atlanta launched a new initiative to educate and equip our community to make wise choices in obtaining affordable healthcare.  Our new Affordable Care Act web portal provides users with all the information they need regarding the new law and also provides access to the Georgia's healthcare exchange for individuals to purchase the right plan.
