When you give to the Satilla Riverkeeper, you are helping to fulfill our vision for a Satilla River watershed that supports healthy fisheries, safe swimming, diverse wildlife populations, superb recreational opportunities, a stable water supply, and sustainable human economic activity throughout the basin.

All donations made through the Georgia Gives Day and #GivingTuesday campaign will be matched, doubling your impact! Donations over $50 will receive a complimentary annual membership (or renewal). Donations over $100 will receive a Satilla Riverkeeper hat while supplies last.

We are the eyes and ears of the watershed and estuary.

We serve as the primary jurisdictional agent to protect environmental values of the river.  At a time when government funds to enforce environmental regulations are dwindling, non-profit organizations like Satilla Riverkeeper are indispensable.

The Satilla River is a unique, sinuous blackwater river with dramatic white sandbars, well known for recreation, beautiful river swamps, and abundant redbreast sunfish.  It is among the blackest rivers because rainwater slowly percolates through acidic soils of coastal plain pinelands and wetlands – creating an effect similar to tea leaves staining a hot cup water.  If not overloaded or altered, such natural processes produce a pristine river, full of fish and wildlife.  Endangered species still thrive here, including swallowtail kites, bald eagles, freshwater clams, Sturgeon, and swamp lilies.  But assaults on water quality and quantity from a century of rapid population growth now press the limits of nature’s restorative abilities. Satilla Riverkeeper is here to ensure that this important Southeast Georgia river is restored and protected for our communities, now and into the future!
Your donations to Satilla Riverkeeper will help fund our work throughout the year.
-Visit Atlanta during the legislative session to advocate for clean water.
-Investigate and address pollution concerns in the Satilla River watershed.
-Monitor our river water quality monthly ($400 per month)
-Lead multiple paddle trips on the river ($250 per trip)
-Take site visits to monitor mining operations ($150 per visit)
-Patrol the Satilla River via boat ($100 per patrol)
-Offer free education programs to local schools on the importance of the Satilla River and watershed protection ($150 per program)

Thank you for your interest in the Satilla River, your stewardship of our shared resource, and your support!

What will you give for clean water?
