Physicians' Care Clinic
Now Celebrating 25 Years of Service
The Oldest and Largest Volunteer-Led Charitable Clinic Serving DeKalb County
PCC is now celebrating its 25th Anniversary of continuous service in DeKalb County. The Clinic offers non-emergency, comprehensive medical care including diagnostic testing, pharmaceuticals, health education, health management supplies, access to primary care physicians, and referrals to medical specialists. It seves adult residents of DeKalb County who are low-income and uninsured, and who don't qualify for Medicaid.
In 1992 members of the DeKalb Medical Society created the charitable clinc, which was originally planned as a community outreach initiative and later became a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.
The clinic administrative office is open four days each week and clinics are offered every week for patient appointments. The PCC is staffed by volunteer physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other medical professionals and lay people -- more than 265 strong -- who last year committed over 3,800 hours to serving patients in need. PCC is located near DeKalb Medical in the T.O. Vinson Health Center at 440 Winn Way in Decatur.
PCC has a small staff and is overseen by a committed Board of Directors who are passionate about the mission and actively volunteer on a regular basis. Operating expenses are donated by individuals, foundations, and corporations. The clinic's original community partners -- DeKalb County Health Department, DeKalb Medical, and the DeKalb County Medical Society -- continue to support the PCC with generous, annual in-kind donations.
The PCC is the recipient of numerous awards from the Georgia Hospital Association, Medical Association of Georgia, Georgia House of Representatives and DeKalb County Board of Commissioners.
