Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where severely abused and neglected children and teenagers can thrive and heal toward a goal of re-engaging with society and leading productive lives.

Severely abused and neglected children are the topic of heartbreaking news stories and devastating statistics – particularly in the State of Georgia. For them, Murphy-Harpst is an emotional and physical safe haven.
Due to a range of complex behavior issues, these children have often failed in numerous schools and foster care placements. They have suffered trauma that most of us cannot even imagine and are in temporary custody of the State of Georgia, being referred through Georgia's Division of Family and Children's Services (DFCS) or Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). Children arriving for treatment at Murphy-Harpst have been declared unmanageable and in desperate need of professional help.
Without support, these at-risk children are more likely to be less educated, homeless, substance abusers, incarcerated, unemployed, and unskilled. They are also more likely to experience physical, developmental, behavioral, and mental health challenges.

Murphy-Harpst recognizes disadvantages faced by these children and commits to providing the therapeutic care needed to help them heal, recover, and ultimately lead successful, self-sufficient lives.
