Founded in 1970, INROADS began as the vision of Frank C. Carr, a corporate executive who, inspired by Martin Luther King's powerful vision, became increasingly concerned about the lack of ethnic and gender diversity in corporate management. Carr left his position as a corporate executive to begin INROADS, a nonprofit that would prepare talented minority students for positions of leadership in business and the community.
INROADS has evolved into an international organization that identifies, recruits and develops exceptional, diverse and talented students, and coaches and trains them to become high-performing contributors in the workplace.
Each year, 5,000 high school and college students receive some form of corporate/professional work-place exposure, including corporate visits and experiential learning opportunities.
High School and College Completion
Each year, thousands of students receive academic support, coaching, scholarships or paid internships that enable them to persist in and complete high school and college.
Development and Training
Each year, thousands of students develop important college and job-readiness “soft skills” through INROADS’ leadership development, training, coaching and mentoring model.
INROADS engages more than 5,000 students each year and places 1,500 in paid internships at over 200 companies.
Contributing to INROADS on Giving Tuesday is the best investment you can begin making to ensure the future for INROADS. These Gifts enable INROADS to meet its most critical needs and make it possible for us to realize our mission. With the financial support of alumni, friends, foundations, corporations and small businesses, INROADS is well positioned to offer an education that will nurture and develop the leaders of tomorrow, aid us in effectively meeting day-to-day operations and continue our legacy of developing and placing talented underserved youth in business and industry, and prepare them for corporate and community leadership.
