About the GEC - In 1990, a small group of citizens came together to create a vision for Glynn County leading to the creation of the Glynn Environmental Coalition ( GEC). The area's industrial legacy had created choking air pollution, polluted waters, and polluted land posing threats to our community and our fragile estuaries, marshes, and beaches. To address these problems, GEC's initial cleanups and educational programs quickly expanded to include technical assistance and advocacy to clean up our community's 4 Superfund Sites.

Today, GEC's work includes community organizing, educational outreach, the Safe Seafood Campaign, monitoring rivers and estuaries, public hearings, lobbying, governmental oversight, and environmental justice.

With the help our community and members, our work is making our community a healthier place to live and raise our families and protecting our natural resources for future generations.
