GAIN's mission is to provide free immigration legal services to victims of crime and persecution. Through direct legal representation and the placement of pro bono cases with volunteers attorneys in the Metro-Atlanta area, GAIN plays a critical role in improving access to justice for immigrants in our community.

Each year, we help hundreds of asylum seekers and immigrant victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault secure immigration status to remain lawfully in the United States, escape abusive or exploitive situations, and acquire the tools they need to rebuild their lives.

Here are a few fun facts about GAIN:

*Since inception, GAIN and our volunteer atorneys have contributed more than $8 million in pro bono legal services
*On average, GAIN serves 550 clients per year
*In 2017, GAIN trained over 300 volunteer attorneys from the Metro-Atlanta community
*GAIN's client's come to us from 111 countries and speak 50 different languages

ASYLUM PROJECT

The Asylum Project assists immigrants fleeing persecution abroad by providing legal representation for their asylum case. Asylum seekers who seek refuge in Georgia are at a distinct disadvantage if they attempt to represent their asylum case without trained legal representation. GAIN’s assistance mitigates the challenge of seeking asylum and provides indispensable legal representation, thereby increasing the likelihood of approval.

The Victims of Violence Project uses a model that unites recruitment, training, and mentorship of volunteer attorneys to ensure that immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes have access to quality legal representation for their immigration matters. By screening referred cases, placing them with trained volunteer attorneys, and providing advice and mentorship, GAIN sustains a mechanism for assisting hundreds of cases each year. And to this day, 100% of our Victims of Violence Program cases have been approved!
