SEFAA is a vibrant, hardworking community of individuals, organizations, and businesses advancing our common interests in fiber arts.  We’re passionate about passing on fiber art traditions and techniques, from applique to weaving and everything in between, enabling the use of traditional techniques in new and contemporary ways, and supporting the development of emerging artists.

With your help we'll support even more artists...

We need your help to create an Artist Development Fund.  In today’s age where everything is digital and electronic, it’s more important than ever to not only preserve our heritage and knowledge but to pass on skills and techniques. Our Artist Development fund will enable us to offer more scholarship seats to SEFAA classes and workshops, offer internships, sponsor conference attendees, offer additional prizes for our biannual exhibitions, and...

We'll seek to support more people like Natallia Vilchenko. She recently completed Suzan Lenz’s Hot! contemporary embroidery workshop, something she wouldn’t have been able to do without SEFAA’s aid. A fulltime student pursuing a BFA in textiles at Georgia State, she grew up in Belarus and moved to the United States as a teenager. Natallia was no stranger to textiles, learning to sew at the young age of five, where she would make clothes for her dolls, then later for herself. It wasn’t until she moved to the States that she was exposed to the concept of textiles as art. Since taking Susan Lenz's workshop Natalia has begun to integrate the techniques she learned in the workshop into her pieces. Most recently she created a piece that uses both Susan’s techniques as well as the traditional language of images to celebrate the folklore of Belarus.

Help us get our fund started! With your donation of $75 or more your name(or short message of your choice) will be added to the embroidered panel that will hang in the main exhibition space at our SEFAA Center. And if you're a new donor, your gift will be matched by our Leadershpip Challenge Grant! Together we'll cultivate fiber artists one stitch at a time.
