Who We Are
enAble of Georgia, Inc. (enAble) is a nonprofit organization providing top-quality, comprehensive support for individuals who need help living a fulfilled lifestyle. enAble was founded in 1979 by a small group of parents spurred into action by the lack of support services in their community available for their sons and daughters with special needs who had recently completed high school. Based in Roswell and serving 10 metro area counties, enAble offers day enrichment programs and employment training, residential and in-home services to people with special needs and their families. enAble is committed to helping individuals with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities live as independently as possible, and assisting those served to make connections and be included in their community.

The People We Serve
enAble serves approximately 120 individuals and their families in greater Atlanta who have primary diagnoses of: Mild/Moderate Intellectual Disability, Severe/Profound Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder or Down syndrome. Approximately 55% of these individuals have secondary conditions such as physical disabilities, cerebral palsy, seizures and hearing and vision impairments. We serve individuals throughout their entire adult life span whenever possible starting at young adult. Those we serve residentially receive 24/7 support and guidance from trained professionals in all areas of daily living.

Despite their disabilities, many of those served by enAble have the desire and ability to work. Several individuals are successful in mainstream, inclusive employment where they thrive with the assistance of enAble Job Coaches. They are high-performing workers with very low absenteeism and needs that can be easily accommodated. Those who have difficulty finding work due to the inordinately high unemployment rate among people with disabilities choose to keep a positive outlook and be productive by volunteering and giving back to their community. Because of the nature of their disabilities, these individuals do not drive and rely 100% on the transportation services provided by enAble through a fleet of 24 wheelchair and passenger vans.

What Your Donations Can Do
Your donations can help provide job coaching, in-home staff support, educational materials and so many other basic needs for those served such as food, medical supplies and transportation. Here are some specific examples: $25 provides one hour of job coaching or direct staff support in a group home; $125 provides a week's worth of transportation for 5 individuals to and from work, healthcare appointments, worship service, the grocery store, or a volunteer opportunity; $175 provides a summer day camp scholarship for a young person with a disability; and $375 provides a week of Summer Day Camp for a youth or young adult in need of supportive peer interaction.

Accreditation & Licensing
enAble has a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Our residential and community living support services are licensed by the state of Georgia. enAble of Georgia Foundation is the organization’s fundraising arm, and was formally established in 1993 strictly to help bridge the gap between the disability funding received by those we serve and the actual costs of their overall care and support.
