Destiny’s Daughters of Promise (DDP) envisions a future where every girl has an opportunity to live in a safe environment, follow her dreams and truly make a mark in the world. We are proud to celebrate over 10 years of providing a safe place for teen girls to prepare for college, careers, and a life of bold success. Our top priority is to equip girls with strategies to help them identify unhealthy relationships. The second priority is to ensure that our teens are prepared for future success. We will serve over 100 girls this year. The program is designed to provide enhanced educational enrichment sessions and additional support to our local schools. We provide after school sessions in elementary and middle schools, Saturday workshop sessions for middle and high school students, one on one mentoring, community service opportunities and educational trips and outings.
STEM education is the focus this year. Clearly, girls today face a multitude of challenges to completing their education and leading lives of bold success. The future of our country depends on our capacity to increase the number of women professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Women make up half of the total U.S. college-educated workforce, but only 29% of them are in the science and engineering workforce, according to the numbers released last year by the National Science Foundation. We seek to correct the gender imbalance in STEM education and help women break the cycle of poverty by investing in them now through education and life skills.
If you are passionate about our cause to equip girls to stand up to abusers, bullies and prepare them for college and careers, contribute now and be a difference-maker. Let’s stamp out physical and sexual assault against women so that no one else has to say, “Me too!”
Here is how your gift is impacting the lives of our young leaders:
"DDP really lives by their motto and mantra. I grew up to believe that I am a true leader, and I was created for a purpose. I do love myself as I am. I have gotten this far and walked through new open doors because of this program. I discovered more of me than I knew before." ~ Irnes Babajic, 2018 Girl with Promise Graduate
College is big, it’s scary, and it’s a lot to take in, but because of the leadership skills I learned in DDP, I was able to figure out who I am, who I will be, and what I can do! With DDP I learned to accept others. Instead of judging others, I appreciate and try to understand who they are. College is filled with all kinds of different people. Being able to socialize with others is key to being successful not only in college but in any career field. I am absolutely thankful that I was able to learn this while with DDP because it has left a big impact on me! ~ Myriam Vega, 2017 Girl with Promise Graduate
The success stories of Irnes and Myriam are the reasons why we don't take it for granted when say our aim is to save a girl and save a generation! We firmly believe that we are the helping hands that elevate our girls to become the next powerful, intelligent, and bold generation of women. This is why we need your support today to provide more teen girls like Irnes and Myriam the opportunity to join our Next Generation Leaders (Nx GEN) middle school program and Girl with Promise (GWP) high school program in addition to training for the S.T.E.A.M completion next year without worrying about tuition fees. Give the gift that keeps on giving today and help us raise the funds we need to continue impacting the lives of teen girls.
