Communities In Schools of Georgia breaks the cycle of poverty and academic failure by linking students to critical educational and community-based resources.

Communities In Schools (CIS) of Georgia is the state's leading organization in providing student support services and drop-out prevention. CIS is dedicated to empowering at-risk students to stay in school and on a path to a brighter future. Working directly inside 244 schools and 4 community sites across the state, we connect kids to caring adults and community resources designed to help them succeed. We do whatever it takes to ensure that all kids—regardless of the challenges they may face—have what they need to realize their potential.

Through our unqiue model, CIS places a site coordinator inside each schools. The site coordinator brings community resources into schools to empower success for all students by removing barriers for vulnerable students at risk of dropping out, keeping kids in schools and on the path to graduation and leveraging evidence, relationships and local resources to drive results.

Research proves our model works. Last year CIS served over 137,000 students, and our students had a graduation rate of 96 percent. We also have a promotion rate of 95 percent among elementary and middle school students served by CIS.

A performance audit by the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts found an $18 to $1 economic return in state funds invested in Communities In Schools of Georgia.
