Central Georgia C.A.R.E.S (Critter Advocates Requesting Ethical Standards) is a registered 501(c) 3 animal welfare organization founded in Macon in 2009. CARES and its Mascot AC Pup serve the entire region and State of Georgia through positive promotion, education, outreach and funding. CARES fulfills a leadership role by encouraging adoptions, expanding spay/neuter programs, reducing euthanasia, eliminating animal cruelty, building Homeless Pet Clubs, conducting vaccine & pet wellness clinics, and assisting in other aspects of care for animals. CARES and its Mascot AC Pup engage in an active educational campaign that involves classroom visits, a weekly column in The Telegraph and articles for Southern Style Magazine, daily postings on Facebook, and regular emailings to animal-lovers in the region. CARES conducts outreach and fundraising activities to help pets in need.
