At A.G. Rhodes, a mission-driven nonprofit nursing home provider with three communities in metro Atlanta, your generous donation to the Songs for Seniors program will bring personalized music— and memories— to A.G. Rhodes nursing home residents.

The longest lasting memories that people have are often musical memories. For those living with dementia, a song can transform them back in time— helping them to recall precious memories and reconnect with the world.

Studies show that social isolation increases the risk of developing dementia by almost 50%. COVID-19 has posed many challenges, including an increase in social isolation for our elders.  While the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll, there is hope.

The Songs for Seniors program uses music devices that include songs tailored for individual residents to enjoy. Staff have been trained under the MUSIC & MEMORY℠ Certification Program to create personalized music playlists that are downloaded onto iPods/mp3 players. They work with individual residents who listen to their favorite songs and musical preferences. As a result, residents—particularly those living with dementia and other cognitive and physical challenges— experience positive reactions while recalling favorite pastimes, and they are more alert and engaged throughout the day.

Your generous gift to the Songs for Seniors program will help cover the costs of various items including iPods/mp3 players, downloadable music and headsets, as well as staff training. You can help more of our elders bring back their memories and reconnect with the world. We hope you will make a donation today!
