2 Million People in the American South live with zero or negative net worth. 

The racial wealth divide is not just a disparity—it is a crisis that threatens economic progress for all. Wealth is not simply a measure of financial health, it is the foundation of agency, stability, and opportunity. The absence of wealth is about restricted access to housing, opportunity, health, safety, time, and democratic participation. 

This campaign returns to that idea, consistently: what wealth makes possible, and what its absence prevents.

Wealth is freedom. Access determines everything…

- Stable housing: Land ownership and the security of place - the foundation of generational wealth.

- Food and environment: Healthy ecosystems and dignified food systems that sustain communities.

- Health access: Care, dignity, and treatment that affirms life - not a privilege but a right.

- Business formation: Care, dignity, and treatment that affirms life - not a privilege but a right.

- Climate resilience: Safety and stability in the face of environmental and climate vulnerability.

- Time and safety: The space to rest, plan, and invest in the future without constant crisis.

- Democratic agency: Full, unimpeded participation in civic and political life at every level.

- Dignity: No matter carceral or economic status.

Today, the median Black household holds 24 times less wealth than the median White household in the South. If unaddressed, this divide will cost the U.S. economy trillions in lost GDP over the next two decades. But evidence shows that targeted investments in Black wealth not only uplift Black communities — they strengthen entire regional economies.

• Fund critical research to identify barriers and solutions for building Black wealth, like our "Building a Beloved Economy", "Roots of Wealth", and "Standing on Business Brief" that ultimately leverages your dollars to marshal public and private investments to support chronically disinvested communities.
• Accelerate promising policy solutions to achieve scalable impact. 
• Support and expand a dynamic coalition of Black Community Wealth Network, connecting over 40 organizations that are advancing a shared results agenda to bolster collective Black wealth across the South. Bolster capacity for Business Serving Organizations (BSOs) to enhance support for small businesses through technical assistance and building operational infrastructure for businesses.
• Support shared ownership models, like employee-owned businesses, to create sustainable wealth for communities.
