Why we need your support

The ongoing pandemic escalates risks and challenges for all survivors and their children. These challenges are compounded for immigrant and refugee survivors, whose unique circumstances (see ) create hurdles on their path to recovery and expose them to re-victimization. Many Raksha clients are dealing with job uncertainty, evictions, delayed immigration relief, limited legal aid, court delays due to pandemic and limited access to services and safety.

UNIQUE CIRCUMSTANCES FACED BY IMMIGRANT/ REFUGEE SURVIVORS

  • Blocked access to important legal documents, identification

  • Immigration status often used as tool of control by perpetrators

  • Financial dependency, lack of credit history

  • Limited proficiency in English (LEP)

  • Inability to afford safer. stable housing or find culturally-responsive shelters

  • Barriers in accessing mainstream services (transportation, language, lack of knowledge of immediate
    community and resources)

Raksha provides free, confidential support services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and other violent crimes. (see to read more about who we serve and what we do) However, the ongoing pandemic continues throwing newer challenges for our clients and Raksha needs your help in meeting the varying and diverse needs that are emerging through these uncertain times.

Your donations will help provide hope, healing and the much-needed respite survivors of gender-based violence and crime need in these difficult times.
