The mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and to demonstrate His love by providing affordable, quality healthcare services for the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of the underserved.

MercyMed is responding quickly to needs as they arise from the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our response is centered around testing, treatment, and access to essential care.

From April 3 – April 6, we rallied the community and performed community-wide COVID testing. At that event, we tested 1,243 with 186 positive results. After the results came back, we quickly created a safe space in our clinic to bring in the positive patients who desired to see a physician. We saw 87 patients in the office, treated 14 with medication at our physician’s discretion, and all are recovering. Only 3 patients visited the hospital during this intervention.

We are continuing to provide COVID testing by appointment in the parking lot of our clinic. We provide testing for individuals who report exposure to COVID (or suspected exposure) or cough or fever.

MercyMed uses telemedicine to ensure continued access to care in our primary care healthcare center. Uninsured individuals are currently seen at no cost either by telephone or video conference. Urgent issues can be seen in the clinic based on the direction of the provider on the floor.

Finally, in the long run, MercyMed expects an increase in the number of patients in need of our services. We do not yet know the estimate of the unemployed and uninsured patients in our community, but we will respond with access to care for them.
